Those last two links are from the perfect guide/official world guidance books for Xillia 2, which gives more insight into the story/characters that might not have been brought up in the game.
The plot summary on the Wiki page is good, but I don't have a link that details Rideaux's involvement in the plot so I'll give a quick summary myself.
- Rideaux is introduced as a doctor working for the Spirius Corporation, which is basically the Huge Corporation that produces technology and other services for Elympios. He saves Ludger, Jude, Elle and Rollo's lives after a train explosion. However, the price of their treatment is astronomically large (20 million gald), so Ludger is stuck with an enormous debt for it. All of this was planned by Bisley Bakur, head of Spirius Corp, to restrict Ludger's movements and draw him into working for Spirius Corp.
- When Julius is blamed for the train explosion and becomes a wanted fugitive, Rideaux takes his position as Director of Dimensional Affairs in Spirius Corp. The Department of Dimensional Affairs oversees the destruction of Fractured Dimensions, alternate realities that are like a poison to the Prime Dimension, which is where the game takes place. If too many Fractured Dimensions appear and build up, it could lead to the destruction of the Prime Dimension. People who have the Chromatus ability can destroy these dimensions, and Rideaux is one of those Chromatus bearers.
- For a while Rideaux and his subordinate Ivar are actively looking to bring Julius in for his crimes. In reality, Bisley wants Julius in order to sacrifice him later on in the story. Julius does get captured at one point but manages to escape. The manhunt continues until Bisley decides he no longer needs Julius.
- In order to find the fifth Waymarker to the Land of Canaan, the spirit Milla Maxwell must be summoned. However, she can't be summoned until something is done with the Milla from a Fractured Dimension that managed to end up in the Prime Dimension. The two cannot exist in the Prime Dimension together. While the main party is trying to decide what to do, Rideaux goes ahead and just makes that decision for them. He performs the ritual for summoning Maxwell, using Fractured Milla as a human sacrifice. That doesn't earn him any brownie points though, and the Prime Milla ends up fighting him for his actions. He gets away though.
- Rideaux shows up later when Ludger is promoted to the Vice President of Spirius Corp., much to Rideaux's dismay. He assists Bisley and Vera in telling Ludger's group the whole reason for Spirius's desire to get to the Land of Canaan. He ends up telling Ludger Bisley's plans for Elle, that he intends to use her powers as the Key of Kresnik to defeat Chronos and complete Origin's Trial, something he failed at when he killed his wife during a previous battle with Chronos.
- Rideaux tries to hold off Ludger's group in persuing Bisley before he can get to the Land of Canaan, but he is defeated. At this point, he discovers that Bisley has decided to use him as the sacrifice to get to the Land of Canaan instead of Julius. Rendered physically helpless to resist due to the technology holding his body together being shut down, he is taken to Bisley and ultimately killed so Bisley can continue with his goals.
Personality:
Let me just start by saying good lord is this man an asshole.
Rideaux may come off as polite and well-mannered; in fact, he introduces himself to Ludger as the man who saved his life, because he did. He's a doctor, and a very good one at that. So one would think, hey, that was a nice thing for him to do! Saving lives is great! But it doesn't take much for him to reveal his true colors. Sure he saved Ludger and his friends' lives, but Ludger's gonna have to pay for that medical work. It's a meager sum for life-saving work, just 20 million gald. As Rideaux says in this scene, "can you really put a price on saving a life?" And if Ludger has any hesitations about taking out that 20 million gald loan, he could always mooch off a family member or have Ludger's young friend Elle be put into child labor to help pay of off, right? Why, Rideaux could even take Elle as collateral until Ludger works something out. There's no reason to be a deadbeat about paying off a loan, after all!
From his thinking up there, it's safe to say Rideaux doesn't give a crap when it comes to others' emotions or what happens to them. He's openly violent toward his subordinates who disobey orders, and even to completely innocent people who did nothing wrong. He has no problem being the bad guy in heavy situations like the debt one described above. In fact, it's shown that sometimes he finds satisfaction in it. The most notable example is when the main party has to decide what to do with the Fractured Milla preventing the Prime Milla's entrance into the Prime Dimension. The only way for Prime Milla to return is by killing Fractured Milla, and naturally that's a very hard decision for the party to make. But to Rideaux? Not hard at all! Naturally they have to kill her, and if they're going to just stand around waffling about it, he's happy to help speed up the process. He does so by interrupting a peace conference and taking everyone hostage, and when the main party comes in to save the day, he uses all of them to create a ritual in order to summon Maxwell (Prime Milla). The way to do this? Use Fractured Milla as a human sacrifice. When Elle tries to stop him, he simply kicks her aside and threatens to kill her if Ludger doesn't release Milla into the abyss where Maxwell will come from after the sacrifice is complete. But hey, he's just doing this for the greater good of the world! The world will be destroyed if they don't summon Maxwell and get the remaining Waymarker to Canaan! In reality though, he's doing this for himself more than anything.
Rideaux is man on a mission, and that mission is keeping himself alive. He was born into an impoverished family, which ended up sucking because he was really sickly growing up. It didn't take long for his family to fall into massive debt trying to keep him alive, but he did receive a life-saving operation at the expense of several of his organs...and his family's stability. Rideaux found himself doing shady things at a young age to try to build up money, and by chance he was saved by Bisley Bakur, the CEO of Spirius Corp. After joining Bisley he found his life much better, but this was the beginning of a slippery descent. Instead of reforming after falling on hard times and resorting to shady tactics to sustain himself, he only got worse from there.
It didn't take him long to find out that Bisley took him in because of his ability to use a power called the Chromatus, and that one day he intended to sacrifice either Rideaux or a boy named Julius on his quest to the Land of Canaan. Rideaux was effectively trapped into being a tool for Bisley's goals, because it wasn't like he could run away from his lofty position in Spirius Corp. So from that moment on, he was motivated to impress Bisley. He would prove that he was more useful than Julius no matter what it took. If he had to kill scores of people, take advantage of and manipulate others, or put incredible amounts of pressure on his semi-fragile body, he would do it.
The unfortunate fact of the matter is that nothing he did mattered. In the end, he was still used as the human sacrifice for Bisley to go to the Land of Canaan, much like how he sacrificed the Fractured Milla to summon Maxwell. Perhaps all that karma finally caught up to him.
Strengths/Weaknesses:
Strengths:
+ Loyal. Well, if there's a good reason for him to be, anyway. If you can get Rideaux's loyalty, there's a good chance he won't break ever break it. This would be good if he remained loyal to Team Rocket. Considering he's really good at what he does, he could get a lot of work done for the team.
+ Medical skills. Rideaux is a doctor, and a very good one at that. He knows a variety of medical techniques, and can even modify the technology in his body to a degree to make himself more powerful. Said technology wouldn't be present in-game, but he still has enough medical training to be able to practice in the Pokeworld.
+ Fighting skills. By working for the Department of Dimensional Affairs and being a Chromatus wielder, Rideaux is a seasoned fighter. The guy has seen a lot of battle; he's been fighting for Spirius Corp. since he was very young. His weapon of choice is knives/scalpels, but he can do hand-to-hand combat as well.
+ Experience working in a corporation/leadership position. This is here because he'd be working for Team Rocket. He knows how organizations like this work, and he probably woudn't have many qualms doing nefarious things for TR. After all, he did similar things in Spirius Corp. As for the leadership position part, he becomes Director of Dimensional Affairs early on in the game, so he can manage subordinates and other tasks that a position like that requires.
+/- Determination. Rideaux is a very driven person. Throughout the game he strives to do everything he can to be more useful than Julius so he doesn't get sacrified in the name of Bisley's own goals. So when he sets his sights on something, he's sure to give it his all. The reason this is also a weakness is because, well...he will literally do anything, like creating hostage situations and killing people without feeling any remorse for it.
Weaknesses:
- Conflicting technologies. In Rideaux's world, magic is common practice. Plus, people of Elympios use technology called Spyrix to use their magic. A lot of Rideaux's medical and fighting techniques involve the use of Spyrix to make them more powerful, so it's going to be a very strange transition when he loses all of that by coming to the PokeWorld.
- Health problems. Rideaux grew up very sickly, and he likely would have died at a young age if it wasn't for a life-saving surgery performed on him that replaced several of his organs with Spyrix. Essentially, he's relying on technology to even stay alive. Being in Route will return those organs in working condition, but he might still be slighty frail and will have to keep an eye on his health.
- What is empathy? He doesn't really care very much about other people. He's only out to impress one person, and that's Bisley Bakur. Anyone else could be a means to his end of doing that. You would think as a doctor that he would be more caring, but honestly he only performs these medical miracles so he can get assloads of money. He doesn't care if his patients are put into backbreaking debt for it. Kind of funny when you consider he was in such a position himself when he was younger.
- Really violent. You do not want this guy as your boss, no really. Usually he's pretty good at remaining calm even when things don't go exactly as planned, like when Milla turned on him after he went through the trouble to return her to the Prime Dimension, he didn't freak out about it. But when people openly disobey him, he will get physically violent to punish them. He fights Ludger and beats up Ivar for disobeying him, for example. He doesn't need to be pissed off to be violent though, he does it for the hell of it too. This probably doesn't bode well for his Pokemon partners...
- Focused mostly on self-preservation. This ties in to the empathy and loyal sections a bit. Rideaux's goal throughout the game is competing against Julius and impressing Bisley so he can appear useful enough to keep alive. He does a very good job at failing that goal though. It's safe to say though, that he doesn't care if he has to throw people under the bus to save face or do terrible things most people wouldn't do in order to be of use.
- Easily asspained. Rideaux can be bitter and jealous when it comes to worth. He wants to be useful, he doesn't take well to others doing better than him, especially Julius. He's highly competitive and always wants to be better than everyone else, because for him it's a means of survival. He often shows signs of passive aggression, scoffing when someone one-ups him.

Stealing monsters for profit? These "Pokemon" must be important if they're worth the effort of taking from innocents. Not that I mind that part... [He glances off to the side for a moment, but decides to move the 'Gear to follow his gaze. A Zangoose and Houndour are curled up on the floor off in some corner. They don't seem to be pleased by this, but does it look like the man cares?] Tell me, just what is so special about them? Do they produce quality products? Are their pelts worth good money? There must be something useful about them. Otherwise, why bother? I need some incentive to work here, you know.
[He eventually shrugs, setting himself back into his previous position.]
Aside from that, do any of you have any useful information about how we are here? I can't be the only one who was whisked away from my previous location to this mysterious new one. Now, I'm not complaining about it—trust me, this is an improvement, and whoever did this had good taste for choosing to use my services—but I'm curious how it was done.
Answers to either or both of my questions would be most appreciated. [He smiles, though something's...not quite right about it.] Thank you for your time.

"S-Stop! Please...please don't do this me! Aaagh!"
Rideaux sneered from behind his Rocket-issued mask as he stomped further onto the young trainer's chest. Nearby, his Zangoose was holding down an injured Charmander. After ambushing the boy on the road, Rideaux had challenged him to a battle. It didn't go so well for the boy, and he was very badly defeated. Rideaux decided to take the Charmander used in battle as a victory prize.
"Oh, please. Your weak little lizard will be much better off in the hands of more capable trainers. Perhaps you ought to take this as a lesson to stop being such a terrible excuse for a trainer," He retorted as he motioned for his Zangoose to make a run for it, "After all, had you trained your Pokemon properly, you wouldn't have lost that battle. Better luck next time!"
With a swift kick to the side of the head, the young man was out cold, and Rideaux had finished another successful heist.
It didn't take him long to catch up to his Zangoose further into the wooded path, now with the boy's Pokeball in tow. He smirked as he recalled the now-crying Charmander in his Zangoose's arms and stuffed it into his Rocket uniform's pocket. He was now at triple the amount of necessary Pokemon to steal for the current two-week period.
"I'm impressed," He called to his Zangoose as they dashed along, "You actually managed to pull through twice in row. If you keep this up, I might just have to let you have more food on your next meal." The Zangoose grunted apprehensively in response. His trainer had barely given any food for the last couple days, and it doubted "extra" meant that much more.
They both fell silent after that, and Rideaux continued to smirk to himself, gently placing a hand against his chest as he went. It had been about a month since his arrival in this strange new world. It didn't take him long to notice the very strange occurrence in his body: he no longer sensed the Spyrix clicking away where several of his organs used to be. He couldn't believe it at the time, just like he couldn't believe some mysterious organization saved him from his imminent death at the hands of Bisley. There didn't seem to be Spyrix or even spirits present in this world, so he couldn't wrap his head around how this could have happened. While he intended to figure it all out someday, he found himself quite content in his new situation, even if it meant not having all the powers he once did, having to wear this ridiculous uniform and stealing monsters.
Whatever this "Team Rocket" truly was, they saved him from death and somehow restored his organs. Apparently they really needed him for something if they went through all the trouble, so he intended to humor them. So long as it didn't turn out to be another Soul Bridge situation, of course.
